I thought it was just painting that I hated but as it turns out removing wallpaper was even worse. Now that the wallpaper was finally down after hours of sheer fun it was time to paint the kids bedroom. Typically I will go through about a gallon of paint when using the traditional paint roller and almost always there is splatters and drips to be found even with everything covered.. well I thought it was covered. Being such a headache having to manually go back and forth for paint, and having also tried the paint stick versions which I hated, and having more rooms to paint soon after seeing the Wagner Smart Sidekick continuous roller system in a local hardware store I thought — hey this would be great and I know the Wagner brand from many of their other paint and spray systems. So here are all the painted details.
What’s in the box:
Wagner has made it very simple. There are only a few items in the box and most are connected as one unit to the suction unit. In addition to that it came with the roller handle, first roller, and extension tube for large paint buckets (supports up to 5 gallons)
Setting up the Wagner Smart Sidekick was very straight forward. Connect all the pieces, open the can of paint, place the suction hose in the paint, plug it in, turn it on, press the button for paint and start rolling away.
The Wagner Smart Sidekick was very easy to use and not having to go back and forth to a paint roller station was great. Not only can you use as a handheld roller but you can put any extension pole right into the extender screw base. I will say that it was a little heavy after using for a while due to the long paint feed tube but it gave a good workout and saved me time. It only felt heavy when I was getting the upper areas of the wall — but not a big deal.
Overall, I really enjoyed using the Wagner Smart Sidekick. Setup was a breeze and It really did save me a good amount of time paint the walls with very little drip — if any at all. I did not really feel that I used any more paint then if I were to use a manual roller. I will say that clean-up was a bit of a pain and I was unsure if I really got all the paint out of the feed tube. I followed the directions for clean-up and it seems to be as clean as I can get it. Don’t expect it to be spotless — after all you are using paint. If you are going to be paintjust a small single room maybe a machine like this doesn’t make financial sense but if you will be painting multiple rooms I would have to say this is the way to go.
