If you love shooting photos like me and you want to do more once your done with them slideshows are a great way to make professionally looking and creative photo-mation type videos. Slideshows look great especially with the higher resolution of photos today and having the option to export the video to full resolution hd video and combine with a music bed makes it a great tool.

There are plenty of tools for creating slideshows and I have used many on the web too. Some of the web tools are free to get started where you can create a time-limited slideshow, select from only a few templates, and typically can’t export to HD unless you purchase the HD version or subscribe the premium service. I have also used some freeware slideshow software but most have very limited options. For some this could be ok but for others that may want to produce professional looking slideshows with a lot of control and features Magix’s PhotoStory on DVD Deluxe may be the tool.

Installation & First Steps

Magix PhotoStory on DVD Deluxe 2013 offers many features to create amazing looking slideshows. Installation of the software was very straight-forward and easy with only a few clicks to get the software all set-up.  Once installed, you’re greeted with an option screen for selecting the type of project to start with. You can manually build a slideshow, use the slideshow creator wizard, select a movie template, open an existing slideshow or watch the introduction movie. I selected the wizard which then asks some questions including your desired output screen resolutions, project name, and what medium you want to export and build your project for such as DVD, Blu-Ray, etc.

Software Interface
Building the slideshow is very easy to and the interface looks much like video editing software so anyone with video editing experience should get the hang of the software pretty quickly. Building my first slideshow — I selected import images. Upon import it asked me to adjust the aspect ratio so all images match. Next you can select your effects and background music for your project. You can also adjust your fades, add titles, preview the slideshow before automatically creating the final version. The final step is to select add menu to slideshow and burn or continue editing the slideshow manually – which is what I selected.

You will see the Magix PhotoStory Deluxe created the slideshow but I can easily go in click the transitions to easily change them in addition to selecting effects and adding titles to my project. As you click through the different options for transitions, effects, and titles you will see a wide range of options to really do almost anything to customize you project. Editing on the timeline is also very simple you can select photos and slide them to a new spot within the slideshow and the software will keep the transitions in place too. You also have to editing options including timeline and storyboard mode for creating your project which is great for the advanced users.

Export Options
Once done with you slideshow you can export to a video file so you can manually upload to social media sites or you have some preset options that allow you to link your social media account and upload directly from the software. Or, if you choose to burn your project to a final medium like DVD or Blu-Ray you can select that option and easily build a menu then burn.

I really enjoyed testing Magix Photostory on DVD 2013 Deluxe and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to create professional looking slideshows. The software was easy to use, had tons of options and created amazing and quick results which can be exported to a variety of different mediums and platforms. This software really has everything one could need in a slideshow creator would make for a great tool for any event photographer or even a real estate photographer looking to save time but also easily create a quickly slideshow of each property. I give Magix Photostory on DVD 2013 Deluxe 5 stars and recommend you download the latest version and test for yourself.
